HCA Healthcare have a long-term relationship with Maintel as their provider of mobility services and this relationship continues because of Maintel’s account management expertise and willingness to understand their business needs and challenges and address them appropriately.
The Maintel account team for HCA have always provided thought provoking insights and a comprehensive vision when consulted on issues in the past and were a natural partner to engage with when initially presented with this problem. The project consisted of three phases:
A reconciliation exercise to check used and unused connections showed the estate could be reduced from 1463 to 1250 connections. This was achieved through reviewing 6 months of usage data.
Usage analysis determined that a new tariff would better suit the way they worked by providing an increased data allowance as well as being more generous than the existing contract. Data usage had been increasing over a six month period due to new starters joining and also the increase in remote working. The COVID-19 outbreak meant that home working was now standard and had significant impact on data usage. Data usage increased from 1.25TB to 2TB over this period. By moving tariff, HCA Healthcare made savings in excess of £25,000 per annum.
Each month Maintel provide detailed reports profiling high usage, spend that can be controlled and recommendations for reducing cost. This has allowed HCA Healthcare to highlight and bar unauthorised usage.
Maintel’s audit and O2’s reporting were used to create a master file of the whole estate. This includes details of:
As part of a managed service Maintel continue to maintain an accurate inventory of all mobile assets and owners. Maintel also ensure that spare devices and spare numbers are always used in preference to taking out a new connection. Additionally, Maintel provide reporting on the device types in use in order for HCA to identify devices that need to be refreshed. This is used to ensure that old iPhones are replaced with the latest SE variant.
Now that HCA Healthcare’s primary objectives have been met and they now have visibility and understanding of their unnecessary spend and an insight into device ownership they are jointly working with Maintel for the next phase to create an asset register, asset tag devices and implement a fully end-to-end managed service
HCA plan to continue this path to a more manageable mobile estate and are looking at the end-to-end user experience and engaging with Maintel to partner with them along this journey with the vision of providing an integrated solution that streamlines internal operations, reduces wastage and optimises the user experience.
Maintel successfully supported HCA throughout the project and all the outcomes that were sought by this project were achieved, namely:
